If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve probably heard me talk about Cousin Camp.
John and I have been blessed with 21 grandkids (which is crazy and wonderful!). Early on when we had just a handful of grands, we started an annual tradition of hosting Cousin Camp every summer, with the goal of increasing their love for each other and for the Lord.
I’ve gotten so many questions about it, I decided to write a book sharing what we’ve learned over the years and giving you practical guidance if you’d like to host your own.
This week I’m telling some stories and giving you fun ideas from our Cousin Camps over the years!
Just to be clear — this isn’t about copying us and doing exactly what we’ve done. Your family and your needs may be different. So I’m also sharing examples of all different kinds of camps and family gatherings that others have hosted.
I hope this inspires you! I’d love to hear what kind of camp you host and how it goes!

I am super excited to look at your ideas for cousin camp. My daughter lives 3 1/2 hrs away. My grandson is 12 and granddaughter is 6. Several years ago, we started “Yaya Camp”. Its four days and mom comes because I don’t get to see her often. I had a yaya bag where I had inexpensive toys. They could close their eyes and pick from the bag once a day. They are getting older now and harder to buy for! LOL My new grandsons, 3 and 1 live in my hometown. We had to skip the last two years because of covid but can’t wait to start up again next summer. I needed some new fresh ideas. I watch my grandsons twice a week so I’m always needing new fun ideas! Thank you for all of the suggestions.
On another note, I love that you do big hikes! Do you train all year? I am praying for a hiking buddy that loves to hike like I do. I have never done an extended hike but would love to.
