Guilt can be overwhelming, can’t it? Sometimes, we carry around great heaviness — and we may not even know what we’ve done.
A friend asked me about this recently. She said, “I feel guilty all the time! What should I do?”
I can relate. I’ve been there! And when I’m overwhelmed like that, I evaluate the guilty feelings to see if they’re a result of conviction from the Holy Spirit, or condemnation that may be coming from the enemy.
The great news, of course, is that whatever the reason for the guilt, we can be forgiven. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” And Romans 8:1 tells us, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”
The conviction of the Holy Spirit is good and necessary, while condemnation can burden us and tear us down.
Watch the video to hear me explain the important distinction between conviction and condemnation, and how to tell which may be at the root of your guilty feelings.
