The worldwide crisis we’re facing right now has been referred to as an enemy — and this is true. An unwelcome enemy who is playing havoc with our world, our families, our jobs, and those we love. It’s a tough, tough time. We’re praying and hoping it will soon dissipate, that a cure will be found.
But there’s another enemy to whom we’re vulnerable, especially in times of crisis. Jesus himself battled him for 40 days in the wilderness and is well acquainted with his ploys.
We too must be alert to the enemy. Ignoring him or disregarding him can get us in a big mess. Failure to recognize him can cause us to blame our spouse, ourselves, our friends, or our circumstances.
It’s not that we ought to blame him for everything but it does make a big difference in our life if we learn to recognize him and how he might tempt us or accuse us or cause us to listen to lies. When we recognize him we can learn how to resist him with the power of God’s word and turn away from the lies He’s trying to get us to believe.
